I had the same phobia, in my 20s to 30s, and it was so bad that when I walked over bridges of water I could not look down, because the waters would mesmerize me.

The dizziness didn't come from the heights, oddly, but from staring, gazing, or even glimpsing a view of the swirling water currents. (Maelstrom) 🫶
